Since ancient times Dante Alighieri wrote about Pula. The city that was founded 3000 years ago experienced his growth in roman times from which period the numerous antic monuments date. Today is Pula the economic centre of the Istrian peninsula and a significant tourist destination thanks to many hotels, apartment resorts, campsites and holiday homes situated along the beautiful coast indented with bays and islands. The most famous attraction of Vodnjan is the baroque church of Saint Blaž from 1800 with the highest bell tower in Istria and mummies and relics from the saints of this region.
